Bea Asurmendi, born and raised in the Basque Country, has had a lifelong passion for music and singing. In 2013, driven by a desire to immerse herself in one of Europe's most important melting pots of musical cultures, she moved to London and furthered her musical studies by completing a Bachelor's degree in Popular Music Performance.

A few years later, in 2020, she was offered a place at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama to study for a Master's in Jazz Performance (Singing). There, she studied under the guidance of many jazz icons, including Scott Stroman, Tina May, Brigitte Beraha, and Clare Wheeler. She also had the opportunity to work with renowned musicians such as Norma Winstone and New York Voices.

Bea has performed in some of London's most renowned theatres and venues, such as Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club, The Jazz Cafe, and 606 Club. Additionally, she had the opportunity to present her music at the prestigious EFG London Jazz Festival last year, opening for Ari Hoenig at Milton Court Concert Hall, and she has recently been invited to showcase her upcoming album at this year's edition. She also performed on the Jazz Stage at the High Tide Festival in London.

On another front, Bea collaborates with composer and director Fernando Velázquez, recording vocals for film and theater soundtracks (Buffalo Kids, El bar que se tragó a todos los españolesEl Test...). She has also shared the stage with her sister, artist Idoia Asurmendi, at renowned venues across the Iberian peninsula such as Teatro Lara in Madrid, Donostia Festibala, Teatro Victoria Eugenia in San Sebastián, and Kafe Atzokia in Bilbao, among others. Last year, the sisters joined their voices for the "Saharari Kantari" concert held at the famous Kursaal in San Sebastián and for the Atlantikaldia festival. Additionally, throughout 2023, Bea performed as a guest artist during the Basque Country tour of artist Judit Neddermann.

Her debut album...

Now, Bea is excited to consolidate her work and her voice as an artist on her debut album. This project represents a significant milestone in her career, allowing her to express her unique musical identity. It consists of an evocative compilation of compositions in Basque, English, and Spanish, where contemporary jazz merges with Basque and Iberian folklore. The songs are inspired by her enriching experience in a women's therapy group that profoundly impacted her life. Bea's unmistakably personal voice and emotive lyrics reveal a unique expression of vulnerability in this album, creating a soundscape that invites listeners to reflect on grief, forgiveness, family, self-love, women's empowerment, and the importance of mental health awareness.
